Watchdog says draws administrative offence report against Google

MOSCOW, Jun 30 (PRIME) – Russia’s communications service has drawn up an administrative offence report against U.S. giant Google that has not localized Russians’ data, while social networks Facebook and Twitter are still to inform the authority on the matter, the watchdog said on Wednesday in a statement.

“On June 30, the Russian communications service drew up a protocol against Google…The management of the U.S. company could not confirm the fact of Russian users’ databases localization on the territory of Russia,” the statement read.

The absence of confirmation entails an administrative fine for the people from 30,000 to 50,000 rubles, for officials from 100,000 to 200,000 rubles, and for comnpanies from 1 million to 6 million rubles.

The authority also said it is still waiting for a response from Facebook and Twitter and then will decide on opening of an administrative case.

The service said that “as of today, storage of personal data of Russian users are localized by some 600 representative offices in the Russian Federation of foreign companies.”
